| CML is a rare blood disorder characterized by an expansion of progenitor and mature myeloid cells. In more than 95% of CML cases, there is a reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22 that results in a fusion gene product, BCR-ABL. This protein has dysregulated tyrosine kinase activity that drives the growth of CML cells. |
