The goal of CML treatment is for the patient to attain Major Molecular Response (MMR) within 12-18 months of starting imatinib treatment. Attaining MMR means a patient is likely to live without disease progression for at least five years.1 MMR is defined as a greater than or equal to 3-log reduction in the ratio of BCR-ABL to control gene from a standardized median baseline value.2
MolecularMD offers the most accurate BCR-ABL quantification available today. We’re the only commercial laboratory offering QRT-PCR BCR-ABL testing with MMR standards that have been cross-validated with the lead investigators of the International Randomized Interferon versus STI571 (IRIS) study. This means that every sample is run against the standards to maximize accuracy.

For patients who reach cytogenetic remission, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guidelines recommend performing quarterly (every 3 months) peripheral blood monitoring of BCR-ABL.
