BCR-ABL Quantitation in CML

BCR-ABL is the causative agent in more than 95% of CML cases. BCR-ABL RNA quantitation is an accurate and sensitive method to monitor patients treated with imatinib (Gleevec ®), related kinase inhibitors or bone marrow transplantation for treatment efficacy.

BCR-ABL Mutations in CML

BCR-ABL mutations can impact a patient’s response to certain kinase inhibitors. Two types of testing for secondary resistance mutations are available: identification of the ABL T315I mutation using a FRET-based assay and screening for other mutations secondary mutations in ABL using D-HPLC and direct sequencing.
