The concept of MolecularMD grew out of discussions with Oregon Health Science University (OHSU) investigators, where the...

BCR-ABL RNA quantitation is available from MolecularMD for monitoring response to imatinib (Gleevec ®) treatment, bone marrow transplantation, or related kinase inhibitor therapies. RNA extracted from blood or bone marrow aspirate is converted to cDNA, which is then subjected to real-time quantitative PCR (RQ-PCR). To normalize between patient samples, the amount of ABL transcript is measured simultaneously, with the results presented as a BCR-ABL/ABL ratio. This ratio is tracked over time on serially-submitted patient samples

Why Choose MolecularMD for your BCR-ABL RNA Quantitation Services?

High Sensitivity: The major molecular responses that are indicative of patient responsiveness to imatinib or related therapeutics tend to drive BCR-ABL transcript levels to the lower limits of detection for many assays. A more sensitive assay will therefore provide more accurate results at these lower levels.

Reliability: Patient results are compared from one testing date to the next to ensure that BCR-ABL levels remain low. To have confidence in these levels requires the most reliable assay possible.

Fast Turnaround Time: Knowing as soon as possible if a patient is developing a resistance to their therapy can be of tremendous value. This requires a very quick turnaround time. MolecularMD is open on Saturdays for receiving and processing samples.
