Testing for Secondary Resistance BCR-ABL Mutations

MolecularMD currently offers screening for mutations in ABL. For these tests, RNA is extracted from blood and cDNA is prepared. The cDNA is then analyzed as detailed below.

Test Specifications

Test

T315I
ABL Kinase
Method
FRET
Direct DNA Sequencing
Limit of Detection
10% of the mutant allele among non-mutated alleles
20-30% of the mutant allele among non-mutated alleles
Specimen Requirements*
10cc of whole blood in EDTA tube or 5cc of whole blood in two PAXgene tubes
10cc of whole blood in EDTA tube or 5cc of whole blood in two PAXgene tubes
Reporting
T315I mutation or no T315I mutation in BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase domain
Amino acid change in ABL kinase domain
Turnaround Time
4-5 business days *
8-10 business days.
4-5 business days if MolecularMD has most recent patient RNA. *

* MolecularMD accepts Saturday deliveries

Please see shipping guidelines document for shipping instructions.

* Blood samples may be drawn into EDTA or PAXgene tubes, maintained at 4°C and shipped with cold-packs. If sample(s) are expected to arrive at MolecularMD more than 72 hours after blood draw, use PAXgene tubes. Freeze at -20C, then -70/-80C and ship on dry ice.
